Lyrics Born @ CSUS/Sunbash Saturday Outdoor Concert @ CSUS

Here was a chance for me to see Lyrics Born as I didn't get a chance to at Coachella. The show started out with some beatboxing from Sac State's very own Butterscotch. It was great when she did "Promiscuous" and "Sexy Back". I've heard great things about Butterscotch and they were all completely true.

Lyrics Born was everything I expected. There was a really good turnout, but I was hoping it would be even more packed like it was at Goapele last year. The highlight of the evening was when he performed "Callin' Out" as it's my favorite track from him.

Local bands and a very well-known performer to Sacramento came out to perform at the Sunbash Saturday Outdoor Concert also at CSUS. The bill included Headrush, Pets, The Proles, and Jonah Matranga. Headrush was great, The Proles had a rockstar attitude about them, which to me is just typical, but they were awesome live for a local band and remind me a bit of The Strokes. Jonah Matranga played a long and fulfilling acoustic set. As much as his fans enjoyed his set, I felt tired and bored from it because it lasted for so long. Pets were the ones that surprised me the most and who I enjoyed the most. They are a cross between Le Tigre and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It was breathtaking to hear a great local band like them live.
