Self Against City/Affirmative, Cameraman/The Brobecks/Doctor Topic/The Littles

The Underground $10
Roseville, CA
It was a pretty good show. The Littles were up first and they were good for the first couple of minutes until it became repetitive and old. Doctor Topic were different. They reminded me a bit of Sacramento local bands Mister Metaphor and Bridges. The Brobecks were better than what I heard in their recordings. I have to admit, at times I was bored, but they were still good. The crowd loved 'em as they gained plenty of new fans. They're pretty funny and sarcastic guys too kind of like We Are Scientists, but no band can be as funny as We Are Scientists. I won't let that happen. Affirmative, Cameraman were amazing as always, but I enjoyed them more first time around. They seemed a bit tired though, but I don't blame them. They're a great live act and I advise people to go out and see them. And pick up their CD. I have to say that the lead singer, Alex, is Adam Levine meets Chris Martin meets Daryl Palumbo. And that's a compliment especially that last one as they're definitely a Glassjaw influenced band. Self Against City was so much better than past performances. It might be because of a new addition to the band (bassist) or it may be because of the lighting, but either way they put on a really good live show. Next time they're playing is supposedly July 10th back at the Underground.
