This Week's DLs & Reviews

Fair's The Best Worst-Case Scenario

1. Monday
2. The Attic
3. Carelessness
4. The Dumbfounded Game
5. Pause
6. Grab Your Coat
7. Bide My Crime
8. Get You Out Alive
9. Cut Down Sideways
10. Confidently Dreaming
11. Blurry Eyed
12. Unglued

The album is "fair" considering they are not that fantastic live. Their sound is great, but it's either you like them or you don't. The track that really sticks out is "Unglued", which features two of the Dupree sisters from Eisley. It's a beautiful track that you can listen to over and over again.

10. St. John's Night

It's been awhile since I first heard Every Move A Picture's "On The Edge Of Something Beautiful (At 12 AM)" and they still make me dance. It's synthetic-pop and they're a darker version of Big City Rock. They remind me of other LA bands like Clear Static and Kissing Tigers.

Download "Signs of Life", "Chemical Burns", and "On The Edge Of Something Beautiful (At 12 AM)"

15. Mushaboom [VV Mix] [Mix]

It's a great collection of remixes plus there are a couple new tracks that won't be found on her Leslie Feist's debut. I don't think that it's necessary to have four different remixes of one song unless of course you like that. Some of the remixes can get tiring after awhile, but "Lonely Lonely" is so beautifully done. It really brings out the meaning of the song and makes you emotional. The highlight of the collection is truly "The Simple Story" with both Feist and Jane Birkin on tracks so how wonderful is that? Their voices match perfectly. You may even enjoy some of the remixes better than the original. "Gatekeeper (One Room One Hour Mix)" is more upbeat and much more jazzed up. The piano solo is just so lovely. All the instruments on this remixed track really complete the song. "Inside + Out (Apostle of Hustle UnMix Live at the BBC)" is slowed down and stripped down, and is acoustic done with one guitar. And I definitely haven't heard "One Evening (Gonzales Solo Piano)" done with just a piano. I instantly fell in love with this song. This version is a classic.

White Whale is incredible. I was referred to this album by a friend and I'm glad they did. The band features Matt Suggs of Butterglory and Rob Pope of The Get Up Kids, plus members of Thee Higher Burning Fire. Their debut album features some pretty interesting songs. "Fidget and Fudge" has a very mesmerizing chorus.
