Amy Winehouse Debut in America

So Amy Winehouse will be performing at New York's Bowery Ballroom as well as Coachella in Indio, but when will her album make its debut in America? It is tentatively scheduled for release mid-March on Dusty Groove. I don't care whether she has a good or bad reputation for partying over in the UK, but you have to admit she is very talented for her age. The more I listen to Back To Black, the more I love it.

One Show Canceled, Another One Enters
So last night's Matt Costa & Satisfaction show in Sacramento was postponed until March 10th, but it's good news to hear that TV on the Radio will be coming back to perform in Sacramento on March 27th. This time, it's in a better venue, but hopefully it won't be moved to a smaller venue with shitty sound. Fuck, it's too bad I'm going to missing another TVotR show in Sacramento for the second time in a row because I'll be at the Josh Groban concert. That's lame.

WTF? WAS Disappears

We Are Scientists have been taken off of the Coachella line-up. Friday is not going to be as fun without WAS that's for sure. It would've been nice to see WAS again, but at least there's one less conflict. Reason for it is:
Source
"We’re officially not doing Coachella this year. As I said, the promoters jumped the gun in including us on their materials earlier this week — assuming, maybe, that a band of our relatively meager cache wouldn’t consider turning down an offer to play the finest U.S. music festival. But they underestimate both our laziness and our cowardice. Since — unless something goes terribly awry — we’ll be right in the middle of recording our next record (tentatively titled “Berries! Is!! Good, Yummm!!! Hey?”) when Coachella rolls ’round, we’re concerned that we’ll be totally out of shape, unable to put on a great live show, and that getting into shape would majorly interrupt the recording effort. Basically, we’re not getting on stage in Indio without super-ripped abs deflecting the desert light in all sorts of directions, like a prism, and right now our bellies look like sun-bleached dead catfish, and by April they’ll look even more like that, eerily so.
But we make this vow: Next year! Coachella! Abs agleam!"

I'm Late... Coachella Line-Up Announcement

I'm highly disappointed. Maybe I just have high expectations. I'm definitely looking forward to Rufus Wainwright, Amy Winehouse, WAS, Arctic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, Lily Allen, and Klaxons on Sunday, but where's Muse and Of Montreal?

Anticipation has the habit to set you up, but...
From LA Times:
Rage Against the Machine will reunite for Coachella
January 22, 2007
Rage Against the Machine, the seminal L.A. band that made heavy music into political manifesto, will reunite after a seven-year lull for one show as the headliners at the 2007 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
Sources say Rage, which played the main stage at the first Coachella in 1999, will be joined by other familiar faces for the eighth edition of the festival, which covers three days this year and begins April 27: Red Hot Chili Peppers, which headlined in 2003, are back, as is Björk, who topped the bill in 2002.
Organizers were mum this weekend and it was not clear which day Rage or the other acts were slotted to play; that announcement is expected in the next few days. Other acts expected in the eclectic lineup: Arcade Fire, Interpol, Willie Nelson, the Roots, Manu Chao, the Decemberists, Arctic Monkeys, Sonic Youth, Crowded House, Air, Tiësto and Kings of Leon.
Tickets go on sale Saturday, via Ticketmaster. Three-day passes will cost about $250 and there will be a limited number of single-day passes available.
The headliners are not novel, but they are potent. The Peppers are up for their first best album Grammy right now, and Björk remains a mesmerizing figure to fans of avant pop. But in Southern California rock circles, there is very little that could compete with the excitement of a Rage Against the Machine reunion. The quartet's hybrid of funk, rap, metal and leftist ideology was as subtle as a Molotov cocktail; in the 1990s, its aggro-anthems made it the only band that mattered to a fan base that included East L.A. protest kids as well as those in Hollywood punk circles, college dorms and mainstream rock festival mosh pits, where politics were secondary to the group's feral energy.
The band is vocalist Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk. Their split came amid rumors of bad blood between De la Rocha and his mates, who went on to work with Chris Cornell in Audioslave. However, Morello and De la Rocha appeared together at a 2005 rally for the urban farmers of a South Los Angeles community garden.

Lily Allen's North American Tour
Remember when we mentioned that Lily Allen was gearing up for the first-ever MTV Discover and Download tour? Well, now we have the dates.
The seven-show club trek runs from February 5-18, with stops in L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, and Boston. Lily has dates scheduled across Australia and Europe as well, and will be heading back to the States for SXSW in March.
Before the tour, however, Lily will be the musical guest on "Saturday Night Live" on February 3. She will perform her hit singles "Smile" and "LDN". That show's host is Drew Barrymore. Cute overload!
As previously reported, Capitol Records will release Allen's debut, Alright, Still, in the U.S. on January 30.
Finally, Allen recently shot the video for her next single, "Alfie", in Tokyo. "Alfie was played by a puppet and the whole thing looks like an episode of a mixture Tom and Jerry and Roger Rabbit," she wrote in her Myspace blog. "You'll understand when you see it."
